Individual Psychotherapy with Dr. Claire Foster
I know from personal experience that beginning therapy is a daunting task that involves the very characteristics that make most people anxious: uncertainty, a requirement for vulnerability, and limited control. As such, I focus on creating an environment that allows you to feel safe, contained, and trusting, not that I will have immediate answers, but that I will be present with you. Together we can process painful experiences and discover the path to healing.

In session, you can expect a warm smile, humor, and encouragement to foster curiosity about your emotional world. I will help you see your struggles from a new, more compassionate perspective. I will also shine a light on patterns that could be keeping you stuck so that you can be freed up to tap into your natural capacity for healing.

If you are feeling stuck in negative cycles with food, body image, or your romantic relationships, I can help you understand why the things you have been trying haven’t worked and uncover what will. My approach, grounded in attachment and psychodynamic theory, focuses not only on reducing symptoms, but on understanding the deeper emotional and relational patterns that give rise to them.
My goal is not only to help you move toward a more peaceful relationship with food, your body, your loved ones and yourself, but also to support self-understanding and greater quality of life.
